After an illness of three weeks, during which she was a great sufferer, Mrs. Mary Avery closed her eyes on the scenes of earth last Saturday and entered into eternal rest.
Mrs. Avery's maiden name was Mary Stroud. She was born September 28, 1900, near Honey Grove, and was reared in this section.
She was a daughter of Noah H. Stroud, a well known farmer who resides south of town.
About four years ago she was married to Gilbert Avery.
Mrs. Avery was a sweet and gentle woman who was loved for her many noble qualities of heart and mind, and many hearts are sad over her passing. Deceased was a Christian woman, a faithful member of the Baptist church, and died soothed and sustained by an unfaltering trust in her Savior.
Besides her husband, father and brother, she is survived by a baby boy who came to gladden and bless her life only three weeks before her death, and who can never know the fullness of a mother's love.
To all these sorrowing ones the Signal joins the entire community in extending tenderest sympathy.
The funeral was conducted the Baptist church Sunday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. S. R. Smith, ion the presence of a great host of relative and sympathizing friends. As the conclusion of the service the body was borne to Oakwood and tenderly laid to rest.
