THE DEATH ANGEL SUMMONS SPIRIT OF MRS. EARL HODGES
--------------------------------
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BELOVED PIONEER WOMAN WILL BE HELD FROM THE HOLINESS CHURCH IN GLENWOOD SATURDAY AFTERNOON
--------------------------------
Mrs. Earl Hodges, well known and long time resident of this vicinity, passed away at the home in the southwest part of town, Wednesday morning, following an illness of almost a year, due to complications incident to advancing years. The body was taken to the Raynor Funeral Home in this city, where it will lie in state in the slumber room, until Saturday at the Holiness church, conducted by Rev. Dobson, assisted by Rev. Zook, of Tabor.
Mrs. Hodges, who was in her 81st year, has lived in this county for 52 years. She is survived by her aged husband and nine children, Mrs. Carrie Harold, Eva Zentz, of Council Bluffs; Hattie Roland, of Long Pine, Nebr.; Pearl Harold, of Logan, Iowa; Maud Worthem, of Emerson, Nebr.; Earl Hodges, of Logan; A. C. Hodges, Mabel Farrington and Ida Martin, of Glenwood. One daughter preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hodges was a devoted wife and a loving mother. Hers was a beautiful christian character. She went quietly and serenely along life's path ministering to others, unselfish in her devotion to family and friends living a life worthy of emulation. She enjoyed the love of children and grandchildren and the esteem of her wide circle of acquaintances. She was privileged to live half score of years beyond the Psalmists allotment of four score years and ten and none was ever more worthy for the memory of the beauty of her hopeful optimistic serenity during these years in which she walked into the sunset and shadow's of life's last day, will linger in the minds of all who knew her as a blessed benediction. The writer considers it a privilege to have known Mother Hodges and cherishes the memory of her friendship, for to know her in these latter years of her life was an inspiration truly, children and grandchildren may well rise up and call her blessed.
