Mrs. Nomie Mae (Willis) Strickland passed away at her residence on Monday, May 31, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in the chapel of the mausoleum at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with entombment immediately following. The family will receive friends at the mausoleum chapel one hour prior to the service.

Born and raised in Brooks County, Nomie settled in Valdosta in the early 1950's. She was an early employee at Metal Products in Valdosta and also worked in clothing sales at LaRue's and Fads N Fashions until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of God on North Highway 41. She will be missed by her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Survivors are her husband of 63 years, C. E. Strickland of Valdosta; her son, C. Roy (Joyce) Strickland of Evans; one precious granddaughter, Regina (Todd) Walker of Evans, and two great granddaughters, Jessica and Reagan Walker, also of Evans; one brother, C. W. Willis, Jr. of Pavo, and four sisters, Mrs. Nell Crosby of Valdosta, Mrs. Merle (Ray) Seago of Lovett, Florida, Mrs. Winifred (Harry) Houghton of Atlanta, and Ms. Jujuan Willis Croft of Valdosta. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and three wonderful sisters-in-law, Ms. Hilda Tabor, Ms. Kathleen Strickland, and Mary (Ralph) Strickland of Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her father, C.W. Willis Sr. and her mother, Mrs. Nora (Griffin) Willis, two brothers, Ralph Orin Willis and Alonzo Ray Willis.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers, nurses, and doctors who worked together as a team to fight the cancer which ultimately took Nomie's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Hospice, LLC. 101 Northside Drive, Valdosta, Georgia 31602.
