Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Olney for Mrs. Jennie K. Jeffery, 79, a well-known resident of Young County since 1887 and widow of the late S.R. Jeffery. Mrs. Jeffery died at her home on West Main Street following an illness of several years. Jennie was the 10th of 13 children born to her family. Rev. W.H. Townsend, pastor officiated and special music was sung by Mrs. E.F. Robertson and Mrs. A.D. Myers. and the church choir. Mrs. Jeffery is remembered throughout the county as a benefactor of all good causes and as a kind and gracious neighbor. Among some of her good deeds were her untiring efforts to aid the Buckner Orphan's Home, both in material gifts and in other ways over the past few years. One of her annual customs in Olney was the gift of a large fruit cake, each Christmas to the high school football team. While visiting Graham, she met Mr. Jeffery and on 10 May 1888, they were married in Simmesport, Louisiana, her hometown. After a short residence in Graham, they moved in 1900 to their ranch home in the Orth community, where they were charter members of the Orth Baptist church and participated actively in the community's life. In 1927, they retired and moved to Olney, wherein, in 1929, her husband died. Mrs. Jeffery had been in ill health for several years and had been bedfast since 1937. Before her health failed, she was an active member of the Baptist church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Olney Forum.
