Alexander "Alex" Stoppel was 82 years of age when he died at the Good Samaritan Home in Hays, Ellis, Kansas. He was born 8 SEP 1891, in Wilson, Ellsworth, Kansas to Johann Christian "Chris" and Anna Elisabeth ANSCHÜTZ STOPPEL.

He married 16 DEC 1920, Lydia GALLIART and this union lasted only a little over ten months when Lydia and their son died of complications. Alex next married Bertha GALLIART, 1 AUG 1922, Great Bend, Barton, Kansas, and they raised five children to adulthood.

He farmed in the Lucas and Dorrance area until 1946, when he moved his family to Russell, Russell, Kansas. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Russell.

At his death he was survived by the widow, Bertha, of the home; two sons; three daughters; a brother Charlie, Russell; and 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were from the church with Rev. Thomas Bandy officiating. Burial was in the Dorrance Cemetery. Deines-Cline Funeral Home in Russell handled the arrangements.
