Mary Belle Roy
Mary Belle Roy, 70, of Hebron, died at 9:20 p.m. Dec. 13 at Pavillion Health Care in Valparaiso after an illness of several months.
Born in Chrisman, Ill., on Oct. 3, 1919, she was the daughter of Lester J. and Hulah (Campbell) Stoops, who are both deceased.
Prior to moving to the area she was a resident of Cedar Lake, Ind.
She married Bernard Roy, who is deceased, at Crown Point.
Educated in the Chrisman Illinois Public Schools, she was a homemaker and had been a cook for six years at the Midway Ball Room Restaurant. She was a member of the Hebron Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters and five sons, Ada Gorby and Janice Bailey, both of Hebron, Lester Dowler of Brighton, Colo., Nolan (Woody) Dowler of Cedar Lake, Ind., Berian Roy and Charles Eugene Roy, both of Sauk Village, Ill. and Donald Roy of Hebron. One sister, Martha "Jane" Grubb of Chrisman, Ill., 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive.
Friends may call at the Steinke Funeral Home of Hebron from 1-4 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. December 15. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Dec. 15 with the Rev. Russell Teque officiating.
Burial will follow at the Chrisman Cemetery in Chrisman, Ill.
