The daughter of Albert James Stoops and Susan Maude Ring, Cora Lee married Joseph Vernon Cairns, Sr. on 03 Nov 1913 in St. Louis, Missouri. They lived in Clay County, Illinois and Sullivan, Missouri for a time before returning to St. Louis. They were the parents of 2 children.

She was a homemaker. He worked as a bookkeeper for the Orchard City Bank in Xenia, Illinois. He then worked as an auditor for a racquet club once the family moved to St. Louis.

Joseph died of lung cancer in 1946.

While visiting in South Bend, Indiana in early 1954, Cora suffered a heart attack and was pronounced dead on arrival 12 hours later at Memorial Hospital. At the time of her death, she was 62 years, 11 months and 10 days old.

She was survived by 2 sons; her grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Stoops, Nell Wolfram, Edna Jurgens and Minnie Shinneman; 2 brothers, David Stoops and Charles Stoops; and extended family members.

Welsheimer Funeral Home in South Bend was in charge of arrangements in Indiana. Funeral services were conducted at the Albert H. Hoppe Funeral on Washington Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 12 Jan 1954.

Cora was buried next to her husband, Joseph.
