REDKEY - Carmen (Stone) Bonner, 73, of Redkey, IN, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 20, 1939 in Alexandria, IN the daughter of J.R. and Margaret L. (Archer) Stone, after which moved to Redkey in 1940. She attended Redkey Elementary and was a 1955 graduate of Redkey High School and also a graduate of Indiana Business College.
Carmen was a Correctional Officer for fifteen years for the State of Indiana Corrections CIF of Pendleton, IN. She is a twenty member of the Eastern Star Inverness Chapter #65. She enjoyed spending her leisure time at auction and antique stores. Most importantly she loves and cherishes the time she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren. Carmen attended Redkey Nazarene Church of Redkey, IN.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Shad Fields (wife, Holly) and Shane Fields, all of Redkey, IN; a daughter, Shelly Fields-Gilbert (husband, Justin) of Greenville, OH; seven grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Abbie, Hallie and Isaac Fields, Haliey Robinson and Kaston Gilbert; step-children, Donnie Bonner, Tony Bonner and Donnella Bonner; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband of fourteen years, Donald Eugene Bonner; and a daughter, Shawn Lynn Alumbaugh.
A service to celebrate Carmen's life will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Thornburg Memorial Chapel of Parker City, IN. Inurnment will follow cremation at Hillcrest Cemetery of Redkey, IN.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Redkey Nazarene Church, Indiana University Health Hospice or Little Red Door.
