Elsie Lorena Stocker Kinnett, 81, of Deputy, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Hanover Nursing Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Deputy, the daughter of Hubert James and Nellie Frances Phillips Stocker. She retired after six years as manager of the Top Value Store, and also had worked for 15 years at Arvin-Cosco Co. in Columbus as a line operator. She lived in Deputy most of her life, but had resided in Hanover since 1996 to be near her daughter. She was a homemaker and farm wife; a member of the Deputy Alumni Association, serving as the historian and as a past president; a member, past president and former Memorial Day chairman of the Pisgah Cemetery Association; a member of the Pisgah Quartet, along with her late husband; and a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy Lee Smith of Hanover; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one aunt; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maurice Lovell Kinnett, whom she married May 17, 1941, and who died Aug. 29, 1977; one son, Douglas Michael Kinnett, who died in October 1978; one brother, Russell Stocker; and two sisters, Gladys Prather and Christine Perkins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pisgah United Methodist Church in Deputy, with burial in Pisgah Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home; and from 1 p.m. Monday until time of the service, at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Pisgah United Methodist Building Fund, or to the Deputy Alumni Association. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home and at the church.
