James H. Stockard was mustered into the 9th Gantt's Tn Cav. Dec. 23, 1861. surrendered at Ft. Donelson on Feb. 16, 1862. He was exchanged at Vicksburg in Sept. 1862, and the group was reorganized at Jackson, Mississippi. James Stockard and Rees Thomas were arrested by the Yankees Oct. 15, 1864.He was paroled at Charlotte, No. Carolina, May 3, 1865.
