Andrew Fulton Stockard, age 75, passed away Friday, December 28, 2007, amongst family, at the Lake Park Comfort Care of Flower Hospital. Born April 15, 1932, in Toledo Ohio. Andrew was a 1950 graduate of Toledo Libbey High School and received his B.S. of Business Administration, from the University of Toledo in 1954. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and the first person of color elected to the University of Toledo Student Council. Andrew received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toledo in 1972. He was also active in organizing Libbey Class of 1950 reunions. In 2004 he was proud to participate in the parade for the 50th year reunion of the University of Toledo Class of 1954. Andrew served in the United States Army from 1955-1957, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1963. He retired in 1993 after 24 years with the City of Toledo, last working as a contract compliance officer for Affirmative Action. His career also included working with Social Security and Owens Illinois. Since retirement, Andrew has maintained many friendships with former co-workers. He was preceded in death by wife, Marcia Anne and parents, John and Dora. Andrew is survived by sons, Gary (Maria) Stockard and Kevin Stockard; sisters, Leotha (Saint) Crawford, Roberta (Charles) Gant, Georgia (Bob) Summers and brothers, John (Alleine) Stockard, Herbert (Brenda) Stockard, Marshall (Barbara) Stockard, and Arnold Stockard; grandchildren, Sinclair and Andy; god-daughter, Cheryl Lynn (Gant) Reese and a host of nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Andrew enjoyed reading, science, music, sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. He possessed a great sense of humor and maintained lifelong friendships from the Brand Whitlock neighborhood of Toledo where he grew up. Andrew took tremendous joy in sharing his wisdom and life lessons with his two sons. He will be greatly missed. He appreciated being visited by numerous friends and family while living at the Lake Park facility of Flower Hospital since October, 2007. Andrew was liked by many of the Lake Park staff and made new friends during his stay. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center and Lake Park for the compassionate care provided to Andrew throughout the course of his illness. A Memorial Service in celebration of Andrew's life will be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, January 4, 2008, at The House of Day Funeral Service, 2550 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, Ohio.
