She was the daughter of Ellis Harvey Stewart, Sr., and Daisy Ellen (Davis) Stewart and married Raymond Edward Ballard. Her obituary follows:

Alma S. Ballard, 77, of Huntland, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester. She was born in Cowan, the daughter of the late Ellis Harvey Stewart and Daisy Davis Stewart. She was a member of the Huntland First Baptist Church. Mrs. Ballard was a retired school bus driver, last employed by the Franklin County Board of Education. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Ballard of Huntland; three daughters, Linda French of Camden, Arkansas, Vickie May of Normal, Illinois, and Deana Davis of Elora; three brothers, Tom (Betty) Stewart, Carter (Shirley) Stewart, and Bruce (Kathryn) Stewart, all of Winchester; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 4 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester. Funeral services were conducted Friday, May 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Plunkett officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
