Hildegarde (Mrs. Fred) Stern, 74, of Sanborn, died Saturday, June 15, 1991, at her rural Sanborn home.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn with Pastor Melvin Schwark officiating. Interment was in Sanborn City Cemetery.
Hilda was born July 28, 1916, at Sanborn, the daughter of William and Leona Bauer Stanek. She was baptized in Sanborn ad confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Wanda. Hilda attended schools in Sanborn, Wanda and Lamberton. She married Fred Stern June 29, 1945 at Sleepy Eye. They farmed at rural Sanborn, until retiring twice, in 1974 and again in 1991.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Extension and Secret Pals Birthday Club. She loved reading, traveling and flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Fred, of rural Sanborn; seven children, Clyde Arnold of Sanborn, Mabel (Mrs. Gordon) Panitzke of Sanborn, Mary (Mrs. Arlan) Wille of Buffalo, Martha (Mrs. George) Wilson of Omaha, Leona (Mrs. Allen) Weckwerth of Springfield, Ethel (Mrs. Joseph) Gostonczik of Springfield and Sherry Stern of Sanborn; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grand-children and two brothers, William Stanek of Sanborn and Lowell Stanek of Tracy.
She was preceded in death by one son, Louis, one daughter, Lois, and two brothers, Earl and John.
