A lifelong Shelby Countian, Mrs. McCain was the widow of Vannoy H. McCain, farmer and merchant who died in 1925. Before she became ill three years ago, Mrs. McCain was active in church and club work.
She was a member of the Kate Trader Barrow Book Club and a former member of Whitehaven chapter, Order fo the Eastern Star. She was a member of Stephenson Chapel Methodist Church which was organized by a member of her family. Since moving to Memphis in 1934, she had attended First Methodist Church.
She leaves another daughter, Mrs. R.T. Leech of Memphis: A sister, Mrs. J.H. Hill of Memphis; a granddaughter, Mrs. Warren Hazel of Smyrna, Tenn.: two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Clara McCain of the Belvedere address, and Mrs. Eula McCain of Cocoa, Fla.
Three sons preceded Mrs. McCain in death. They were Vannoy McCain, who was killed during World War I in France; James A. McCain, who died in 1946, and Oscar McCain, who died in 1949.
