Rites Held for Mrs. Stegner
Ex-Resident, 84, Died at Martinsville
Funeral services for Mrs. Frank D. Stegner, 84, a former resident of Greensburg, were held in Wilhite & Son funeral home at Martinsville at 10 a. m. Wednesday.
The Rev. J. D. McDonald, pastor of the First Presbyterian church at Martinsville, conducted
Burial was in South Park cemetery in Greensburg.
A resident of Martinsville for many years, Mrs. Stegner died at 1 p. m. Monday in Morgan County
Memorial hospital in that
city. Ill for three weeks, she had
been admitted to the hospital
two weeks ago.
Mrs. Stegner, formerly Miss
Harriett Cassell, was born in
Greensburg Nov. 4, 1874. She
was married to Mr. Stegner
March 1, 1893, and soon afterward
they came to Martinsville
where Mr. Stegner was in the
men's clothing business until his
death June 8, 1925. For a number
of years Mrs. Stegner was at
the desk of the Home Lawn
Mineral Springs at Martinsville.
She was a member of the First
Presbyterian church at Martinsville.
Although she had not been
active in clubs for a number of
years, she had been a charter
member of the Coterie club in
Greensburg and was long a
member of the Kensington club
Surviving her are a daughter,
Mrs. Howell H. Brooks, of Nashville;
two granddaughters, Mrs.
John Hoover, of Cedar Rapids,
la., and Mrs. Paul Hansen, of
Milwaukee; a grandson, Lt.
Howell Brooks, U. S. M. C.,
Camp Pendleton, Calif., and
Frank D. Stegner (1865 - 1925)*
