Janie Steele Callicott, 86, of Marks, MS, formerly of Nesbit, MS, died November 17, 2013 at home. She was born on December 9, 1926 in Clarksdale, MS, to Claude Gibson and Oma Ellison Steele. She graduated from the University of Mississippi and was a member of the Whitehaven Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, director of education and supervisor of kitchen activities. Mrs. Callicott took great pleasure in being actively involved with her family and in her community. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carver Callicott, Sr., and brother, C.G. Steele. Mrs. Callicott is survived by her sons, Carver (Frances) Callicott of Marks, MS and Jim (Cheri) Callicott of Nashville; sister, Oma Marler; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2013 with services to follow at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Hill South Cemetery.
