Miss Hager Stacy, 80, of Valley Health Care, Chilhowie, Va., passed on to be with the Lord February 28, 2008. Born May 8, 1927 in the Stone Coal Section of Buchanan County, Va., she was the daughter of the late William Shade Stacy and Orpha Angline Adkins Stacy.
She graduated from Grundy High School in 1946. Hager moved to Bluefield, Va. where she spent all her adult life as an employee of G.T.E. Telephone Co. with 42 years of service. She remained in the Bluefield area until 2005 when she moved to Valley Health Care.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family in her generation.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Miss Vicy "Bush" Stacy, Mrs. Rosella "Roak" Stacy Smith, Mrs. Virgie "Virg" Stacy Warden, Mrs. Wady "Wadie" Stacy Lyons, Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Stacy Keen, Mrs. Margie Couis Stacy Hubbard, Mrs. Belvia "Shortie" Stacy Boyd; four brothers, Lundy Mckelly Stacy, Bernard "Bern" Stacy, Perry Stacy and one infant brother.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, along with many friends and best friend, Annie Lester of Bluefield, W.Va.; a special friend and caregiver, Denise Hubbard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. Corey Dye officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Allen Hubbard, Jason Hubbard, Jacob Hubbard, Wesley Hubbard, Casey Rose and Gregory Hartsock. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, great-nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday (today) at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
