Richard Springsteed of Moriches and Ft. Meyers, Fla., died on Tuesday September 25, 2007 while vacationing in Italy. He was born in Jamaica on September 13, 1929. He had a 30 year career at Con Edison until his retirement in 1992. He obtained a realtors license and also sold ads for the South Shore Press. He served on the board of his co-op in Montauk and on several committees in his community. he was an Elk, a Mason and A Shriner. He entertained at Children's Hospitals as Lucky the Clown. He was the beloved husband of Patricia. Loving brother-in-law of Barbara and John W. Rosman II and Joanne and Andre Rosman, uncle of Jessica Rosman, Lisa Hiz (John), and John W. Rosman III (Karen), Michael Rosman (Kimberly), David P. Rosman (Caroline), proud great uncle of ALexa, Melissa, Emily, Morgan, Katie Rosman, Olivia Hiz, John W. Rosman IV and Michael Rosman, Jr. Mr. Springsteed also had many cousins and several godchildren. He was the happiest surrounded by family and friends and he loved to travel. He was on his 27th cruise when he became ill.
