Joshua 'Doc' was a son of Benjamin Beckwith and wife Temperance Daniel. Looks like they had 4 children - Joshua, William, Joseph, and June. William married Mary (Unknown) and had 5 children; no info on Joseph or June. Joshua married twice - first time to Eugenia A. (Unknown) - no children. Second time to America Spence. They had 7 children.

America A Beckwith has a CSA pension application on line in the GA Archives under Grady County. She says she married Joshua D. Beckwith in 1869 in Thomasville, GA. She says he enlisted in 1861 in Jackson Co, Florida and served with Company E of the 11th Florida regiment. She says he was discharged in Virginia and left his unit in 1864. She says he died in Grady County in 1905. There was a dispute about whether he had deserted, but included in her paperwork is a copy of the Amenesty Oath he signed . He signed it in Jackson Co. Fl. on Sept 30, 1865.
