M. Lois Speer (Allen), 73, of Bedford, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 3, 2012.
Born on October 7, 1938 in Bedford to Everett L. and Ordella Mae (Marsh) Speer.
She was married to Vernon Jack Allen on October 16, 1954, they were married for 24 years.
She was a homemaker and worked at the Times-Mail and also Older Americans.
She attended Free Methodist Church for her last three years and was a long time member of Faith Mission Church. She was also a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
Surviving along with Vernon Jack Allen of Bedford: two daughters Wilma (Rick) Root of Bedford, Kathy (Tim) McDonald of Springville; two sons: Roger (Marlene) Allen and Vernon (Karlynn) Allen both of Bedford; seven grandchildren: Jonathan (Crystal) Allen, Jason (Rachel) Allen, Kentlee (Christina) Root, Steve (Cassie) Root, Kaylen (Eric) Doolan, Anthony McDonald, Matthew McDonald; six great grandchildren: Carson, Addisyn, Isabella Root and Graiden, Brynlee, Jovie Allen; two sisters: Mary Lou Speer of Bedford, Donna McPherson of Medora; three brothers: Herbert (Helen) Speer and Hubert (Kay) Speer both of Bedford, Gary (Linda) Speer of Gainesville, TX; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Anthony Wayne Allen in infancy; Two sisters: Wanda Piatt and Ruth Level.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor John Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Dixon Chapel Cemetery in Leesville.
