Nettie was born to George Edward Linden and Grace Gladys Walden. She was the fourth child in a family of twelve children. She was raised on a houseboat on the Columbia River. On October 21, 1936 she married Harvey Jennings Sparks. Together they had two daughters; Cynthia and Nola. Nettie passed away after a lenghty battle with cancer.
