Gloria A. Raney, 88, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Osteopathic Hospital. Gloria was born on September 18, 1925 to the late Vernon & Edna Spangler. She graduated from John Harris High School in 1943. On January 29, 1944 she married the love of her life, Homer Raney. Gloria worked for Bell Telephone but resigned to care for her growing family. Later in life she worked in the Susquehanna Twp. Middle School cafeteria for over 20 years before her retirement.
Gloria was a volunteer at Susquehanna Twp. Indian Wheels for over 20 years and Judge of Elections in her ward. Some of her favorite things were playing bingo, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, and playing cards with friends.
Gloria enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She always put their needs before her own.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Homer Raney.
Gloria is survived by her 3 daughters: Judith A. Bailets, Brenda L. Noell and Wendy S. Fonner & husband Steven, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 sisters: Doris Thorton, Edna Fackler and Patty Spangler.
Funeral services for Gloria will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Calvary UM Church, 4700 Locust Ln, Harrisburg, PA 17109 at 11am, with a viewing from 10-11am. Rev. Dr. Ronald Parks will officiate. Burial will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Gloria's name to Calvary UM church.
