Mildred E. (Gordon) Spangler, 86, of The Woods At Cedar Run and formerly of New Cumberland, PA, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010.
She was born in Charles Town, WV, on December 21, 1923, daughter of the late Char-les and Lillian Ethel (Thomas) Gordon.
She retired from the American Can Company and was formerly employed at Boscov's Greenery.
Millie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post #143 and VFW Post #7415, both of New Cumberland.
She enjoyed going to casinos, Windsor, and Jeff Gordon of NASCAR.
She was preceded in death by husbands Luther Sunderland and Francis Count; a grandson, Stephen Reeves; a great-grandson, Madison Reeves; and 3 siblings.
Millie is survived by her husband, Kenneth G. Spangler, Sr.; a daughter, Gail Fannasy, and her husband, Bill, of Penbrook; a son, Gary Sunderland, and his wife Virginia, of Mechanicsburg; a son, Robert Count, and his wife Ashley, of Lebanon; 4 step-children: Katherine Bennett, Kenneth Spangler, Jr., Tammy Miller, and Samuel Spangler; 10 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandson; 2 sisters: Jane Walters of DE and Joyce Whire of New Cumberland; 2 brothers: James Gordon of New Cumberland and Alvin Gordon of AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 11:30 am in the First Church Of The Nazarene, 617 16th St., New Cumberland, with the Reverend Dawn I. Spangler officiating.
There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Stone & Murray Funeral Home, 408 3rd. St., New Cumberland, and Tuesday morning from 10:30 am until the time of the service at the church.
