Born in Egger, Polk, Arkansas, USA 04 Dec 1914. Family moved from Arkansas to Oklahoma in 1915. Oldest child of 10 born to Charles H (Charlie) and Bessie (Wood) Southern moved to Skedee, Pawnee, Oklahoma, USA from Kinta and Quinton area in the fall of 1927. Married Alva McCray 25 Feb 1933 at the home of a Baptist Minister in Ralston, Pawnee, Oklahoma, USA. Gladys was able to thread a needle at age 94 and made quilt tops for her family. Mom leaves (all living ) 5 Children, Charles L McCray, Wayne E McCray, Vicki E Caldwell, Janice D Skidgel and Kathy L Berschauer 14 grandchildren, 25 great Grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren plus brothers Sam and Billy Ray Southern and 1 sister Thelma Lee McCray, Baucom. Gladys maintained her own home until 31 Mar 2009. Studied her Bible daily and was a faithful member of her church First Baptist Pawnee until her passing. Gladys never learned to drive, lived without a cell phone, e-mails or a computer.
