Hattie Mae South Elrod, 89, died Oct. 10, 2008 at her home.
Born Feb. 16, 1919 in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Marion Francis and Hattie Victrene Oakley South and the wife of the late Joe Felton Elrod. The last survivor of her immediate family, she was a homemaker and member of Hunter's Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Billy Elrod, Eastanollee, Marshall Elrod, Cleveland, Kenneth Elrod, Coopersburg, Pa., and Coy Elrod, Bowman; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and special friend and caregiver, Tina Parham. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Billy Ray Farmer; brothers, John, Grady, Cleo, Marvin and Mack South; and sisters, Gladys Milford and Mozelle Fulghum Nash.
Funeral services were held Oct. 12, 2008 at Hunter's Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ben Huff and Jerome Hill. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hunter's Creek Baptist Church, 1370 Hunter's Creek Rd., Toccoa, GA 30577.
