Sgt. Soto of Houston, Texas was born in Honduras but moved to Texas with his family when he was 11 in southwest Houston, where the young man dreamed of being a soldier. But after high school graduation, he worked two jobs in Houston to support his wife and young son, and his plans for a military career were put on hold. The desire to be where the action is was a strong as ever, so he enlisted on February 1st 2005 completing initial entry training at Fort Sill, Okla. While on tour, Danny often had his family send candy to him so that he could pass it out to the Iraqi children. His awards and decorations include a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal and a Army Service Ribbon. Danny died in Rashidiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the vehicle they were in struck an improvised explosive device at age 24.
