Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. today [07Nov09], at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst. Born Feb. 8, 1929, in Chicago, she passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at her home in Algonquin. Jane Marie was the granddaughter of Soren Sorensen, the founder of the Union Grove Creamery Company in Union Grove, Wis. She was very proud of her Danish heritage and the contribution of her family and other Danes to the economic development of the city of Chicago during the early years following The Depression of 1929. Jane Marie married Melvin Donald Cory on Sept. 10, 1949, and they enjoyed 33 years of marriage together. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Jay Cory of Barrington; grandson, Mark Cory Fioretto; cousin, John (Carol) Sprengel; sister-in-law, Erna Gusland; and special nieces, nephews and wonderful friends often referred to as her "angels." She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; and her parents, Thorvald Sorensen and Gertrude Sprengel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 225 N.
