Our loving mom, grandma and great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend, Nadine S. Andersen, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2009 in her sleep. She resided at 1095 North 1500 West in the Rose Park neighborhood of Salt Lake City, Utah at the time of her death.
Mom was born August 25, 1926 in Glenwood, Utah to William C. Sorensen and Lillian I. Tuttle Sorensen.
She married her beloved sweetheart, Monte Van Andersen, on September 17, 1948 in the Manti Temple. They were blessed with four children, Kent (Lynda) Andersen; Jill Andersen; Bill Andersen; Linda (Jeff) Mellen. Mom worked hard for her family, often sacrificing her own wants and needs for those of her family.
She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She had a gift for making and keeping friends, and for her beautiful handiwork. She was a talented artist, an excellent cook and well known for her cream pies and cakes and for keeping our home "our own heaven on earth". She had well over 50 volumes of journals - all handwritten. Mom made everyone feel special and so comfortable in her presence, she always had a kiss and a big hug to offer. Mom and Dad enjoyed being "snowbirds" in St. George every winter.
Mom was active in the LDS Church, serving as Primary Secretary for many, many years. Mom was so proud of her family, we always knew we were loved and were told that every time we were with her. Mom taught her family by her example of always being willing to help those in need. She enjoyed music and taught herself to play the piano by ear at a very early age.
Mom was honest, dependable, loving, and she was so proud of the legacy she is leaving behind. We are so proud of our Mom, she was THEE best person we have ever known. She will leave a huge void in our lives but our hearts will be filled with the unconditional love, memories and feeling of being so special that she gave to each one of us. We know this will be a treasured Christmas for both mom and dad as they are able to be together.
She is survived by four children and spouses, grandchildren, Chad (Rachael) Andersen, Brooke Lee, Jeffrey Andersen, Kimberly Andersen, Dalton Andersen, Jake Mellen and Jami Mellen and three great-grandchildren, Gentrie and Daxten Andersen and Reagan Lee. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Dee (Renee) Andersen, LaMar (Jane) Andersen, and brother-in-law LaVell (Renee) Lott. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, IvaLee, Jack, LaJune, Clark.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. in the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek, Utah. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services.
