Ann S. Maler, 67, of Cameron, Texas, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, in a Temple hospital. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron with the Rev. Gary Bagley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ann, retired school teacher and counselor, was born in Clifton, Texas, to the late Louie and Sarah Ellen (Prater) Sonntag. She married Robert Maler on July 12, 1976. Mrs. Maler started her career teaching at Ben Milam Elementary School in Cameron, she then moved to Richardson where she taught for several years before moving back to Cameron, where she taught and served as Chapter One Parent Involvement Coordinator and then as counselor for Cameron Elementary School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the U.M.W. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Cameron Women's Golf Association.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Maler, of Cameron; son, Richard Dwayne Gaskey, of Azle; daughter, Melissa Shelton, of Cameron; grandchildren, Colby and Jarrod Gaskey, and Dillon, Colton, and Sutton Shelton; great-grandchildren, Kyler Hassey and Cadlie Gaskey; and brothers , Darrell Sonntag, of Meridian and Doug Sonntag, of Rosebud.
