Obituary
SCOTT - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at a Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Verna Mae Ancelet, 83, the former Verna Mae Sonnier, who died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at her residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott.

The Rev. Gilbert Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Scott, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Jody Leger and Darrell Richard. Eulogist will be Barry Ancelet. Valerie Andrus, organist, will sing for the funeral Mass "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "J"irai la voir un jour", "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings".

Survivors include four sisters, Lydia Roger, Eunice Domingue, Loretta Dugas and Mildred Delhomme, all of Scott; one brother-in-law, Elmo Ancelet and his wife, Maude, of Ossun, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clence Ancelet; her parents, Elie "Greo" Sonnier and the former, Cecile Lacy; four sisters, Philomene Lantier, Bella Lanerie, Milda Guidry and Etta Sonnier; and six brothers, Alphe Sonnier, Leon Sonnier, Leo Sonnier, Dalton Sonnier, Early Sonnier and Alexson Sonnier.

Mrs. Ancelet was a native of the Ossun Community and a lifelong resident of Lafayette.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Richard, Larrell Richard, Barry Ancelet, Jonathan Ancelet, Terry J. Delhomme, Larry Guidry, Curris Lanerie and Troy Albarado.
