Julia A. Mangas, 94, of Holgate, Ohio passed away Sunday morning, July 24, 2016 at The Lutheran Home, Napoleon. She was born on November 29, 1921 in Holgate, Ohio to the late Theodore and Amelia (Badenhop) Sonnenberg. On February 11, 1944 she married Robert John Mangas who preceded her in death on September 10, 1987.
She was a homemaker as well as a caregiver for her husband who had been diagnosed with polio. She belonged to Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler where she was active with the Women of the Church, and the senior choir. She enjoyed sewing at the church and the Filling Home.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Jackie) Mangas of Holgate, Ohio, Jim (Nancy) Mangas of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Sue (Jim) Porter of Terrace Park, Ohio, Judy (Bob) Damman of Hamler, Ohio, Linda (Doug) Brelsford of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and John (Ann) Mangas of Sylvania, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; siblings, Otis Sonnenberg of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Ruth Groll of Traverse City, Michigan. She was preceded in death by twin brother, Julian Sonnenberg, brothers, Willis and Reinold Sonnenberg, and sisters, Laura Gerken, and Rufina Sonnenberg.
Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and one hour prior to the service.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on August 6 at Hope Lutheran Church in Hamler, Ohio. Internment will follow at Hope - St. Stephens Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials go to Hope Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, or to a charity of donor's choice.
