Merlon "Lamar" Solano Jr., of Flagler Beach, went home to the Lord on Dec. 10, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with end-stage liver disease. Lamar was a proud native of St. Augustine, born Dec. 30, 1954. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, cooking on the grill at family gatherings, playing with his nieces and nephews and spending time with his grandchildren.
As a certified general contractor, he worked in the masonry business for 30 years. He was a very caring and loving mate, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend to many people. Lamar deeply loved his family and enjoyed the many wonderful times they shared together. He had a natural, unique warmth that put people at ease and made them smile in good times or bad times.

He leaves to cherish his memory Lucille Severson, with whom he shared his love and life for 11 years; his loving mother, Rita Pellicer; father, Merlon (Karen) Solano; son, David (Gini) Solano; his stepchildren, Alycia (Sammy) Puckett, Wesley, Craig and James Severson; his grandchildren, Alexis and Amber Severson and Simone and Freeman Puckett; sisters, Cathy (David) Scott, Linda (Butch) Henderson, Cindy (Kevin) Carter and Marla (John) Mullis; brothers, Robin (Amanda) Solano and Michael (Tammy) Solano; nieces, Susie (Wayne) Ferrell, Cindy Jo (Joseph) Bachmore, Carrie Barro and Cory Carter; and nephews, Jason (Bonnie) Barnes, Johnny (Lisa) Goers, David Goers and Luke Carter.
He also leaves a host of other family members and friends.

A viewing will be held at Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine, on Monday, Dec. 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 9 a.m. at Corpus Cristi Parrish Church with The Rev. William Mooney officiating. Internment will follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery.
Flowers will be welcomed and can be sent for the viewing, or donations in Lamar's name can be made to the American Liver Foundation.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4.
