Karen was born July 25, 1949, in Blair, Neb., the daughter of Lewis and Grace (Barnett) Snyder. Nine months later, the family moved to Torrington. Karen graduated high school from Torrington High School in 1967. After high school, she moved to San Antonio, Texas and started dating Ken Godfrey. The two had known each other since childhood but had officially “met” through Karen’s sister. The couple was married Dec. 21, 1968. In 1970, Ken and Karen moved back to Torrington. She worked at Holly Sugar Factory for the next 26 years.
Karen was a real people person who was always there to help others. She was also a quiet person who enjoyed reading and writing. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafting. Karen was known around Torrington for her singing. She sang at many funerals and weddings in the community. Karen also collected lighthouses. Above all, Karen enjoyed spending time adoring her grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary where she was past president.
Survivors include her parents, Lewis and Grace Snyder of Torrington; her husband, Ken Godfrey of Torrington; son, Patrick (Jaqueline) Godfrey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughte,r Tamsen Godfrey of Torrington; grandchildren, Brandon Reynolds and Sydney Godfrey of Colorado Springs; and a sister, Gail Snyder.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents; a sister, Sandra Jean Duncan; and a nephew, Benny Lee Duncan, Jr.
