Elizabeth Lucille Armstrong 98, of Springfield died Sunday at Sunny Acres Nursing Home, Petersburg. She was born July 24, 1899, in Atlanta, the daughter of Thomas L. and Mary Murphy Snook. She married John D. Armstrong in Lincoln in 1925; he preceded her in death in 1957.
Mrs. Armstrong, a long-time resident of Springfield, was a resident of Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg at the time of her death. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School and attended Illinois Business College. A homemaker and former school teacher at Curran Grade School, she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Women's Catholic Order of Forresters, Legion of Mary and the Third Order of St. Francis. She served as a Samaritan volunteer at St. John's Hospital and was a foster parent for Catholic Charities and Children Service League.
Survivors: a son, John Michael Armstrong of Downers Grove; a daughter, Mrs. John (Alberta) Kirchgesner of Springfield; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Doris) Pierce of Marengo; and several nieces and nephews.
