FISHER, Marie Elizabeth (nee Snider) Born October 23, 1916 Died September 11, 2008 Predeceased by her husband Milton Donald Fisher, 1971, and her beautiful granddaughter Lori, 1981, her beloved sister Gladys Clapham in 2000, her infant sister Pearl in 1919 and her brother Stuart in 1931. Survived by her 3 sons, 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters Olive, Bette and Gerry, brothers Jack and Steve and many nieces and nephews. Mom is also missed by Kay and Mary. Marie moved to Metchosin with her family in 1918, truly a proud pioneer of the Western Communities. Her family farmed a short distance from Metchosin School where she received her education. Mom has always loved her garden and was especially proud to be able to grow her own fruits, vegetables and glorious flowers. She had her own garden right to the end. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the VIHA professionals and caregivers for their compassionate care in Mom's final weeks. Mom and the family appreciated all the help from relatives, friends and neighbours during her illness. The family will hold a reception in memory of Marie on October 18 at the Metchosin Community Hall from 2:00-5:00 p.m. We welcome all of Mom's friends, old and new, to come and share all of our memories. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest a donation to the Metchosin School Museum Society, 4475 Happy Valley Road, Victoria, B.C. V9C 3Z3.
