Martha A. Ashmore, 76, of McArthur, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Logan.
Born April 5, 1928, in Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Henry and Nellie Marie Arick Snider. She was postmaster of the Creola Post office for 38 years, retiring in 1992, and was a member of Creola church of Christ in Christina Union.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Clarence Ashmore; two children, Alvin C. Harper Jr. of Chillicothe, and Karen A Wing of McArhur; five grandchildren, Bethany A. (Richard) Thompson of Chillicothe, Chuck Harper of Chillicothe, Roger M. Herrold of Hermitage, Tenn., Lori K. Herrold of Chillicothe and David M Herrold of McArthur; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Charles (Rosalie) Snider of Pennsylvania, Kenneth Snider of McArthur, Mary McManis of Creola and Flora Belle Schneider of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin C. Harper Sr. on April 11, 1959; a brother, Paul E. Snider; and a sister Helen Dillon.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 1p.m., at Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with the Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating. Arrangements are by Garrett Funeral Home, McArthur.
