Bessie Andrews, 85, former long-time Cashmere librarian, died Saturday evening at a Wenatchee hospital.

She was born July 1, 1892, in Shickley, Neb., where she was raised. The family moved to Kansas, and she was married to Lawrence E. Andrews on April 20, 1917, at Herington, Kans. They moved to Peshastin In 1923 and to Cashmere in 1930. Mr. Andrews died in 1969. Mrs. Andrews was the librarian in Cashmere for many years prior to her retirement She was a member of the Cashmere United Methodist Church, Purity Rebekah Lodge, Fine Arts of the Woman's Club, and had served as museum hostess for the Willis Carey Museum. Surviving are one son, Leslie, Portland, a daughter, Betty Hanson, Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Homer Smithson, Peshastin; and two sisters, Claire Nicholson, Peshastin, and Ida Barkley, Leavenworth. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am. (June 3) from the Cashmere Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Whitlow officiating. Burial will take place in the Cashmere Cemetery. Braun Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.
