David Harlin Smith, Jr., 76, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 5, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from complications following surgery.
He was born October 22, 1939, in Idaho Falls to David Harlin Smith, Sr. and Shirley Hendrickson Smith. He grew up in the area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. He attended Ricks College. David worked as a Medical Manager for the Smith Clinic.
On June 11, 1982, he married Sheryl L. Cutler in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was a father to 11 children: Jim, Robert, Ronald, Shirley, Catherine, Justin, Barry, Shane, Paul, David, and Lyndi. He was Santa to many others.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved Temple Service. He was a member of the Civitan Club, the Temples Riders Association and the Gold Wing Club. He enjoyed camping, flying his kites and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Barry Lewis Smith; a granddaughter, Katie Smith; and two brothers, Richard Edmond Smith and Douglas Ray Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016, at the Ammon LDS 27th Ward (7118 S. Ledgerock Drive) with Bishop Jim Hansen officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon) and on Monday from 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
