Betty Lou Danner Smith, 83, of Dresden, died January 6, 2024 at Weakley County Nursing Home.

Betty was born September 1, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Freeman and Luella (Adams) Danner.

She graduated from Martin High School in the class of 1958. She had worked at Kellwood in Greenfield and was a bookkeeper for Tom Call at Standard Auto Parts. After a long career at MTD Products, she began her retirement. She was a former member of First Baptist Church of Dresden and held current membership at West Union Baptist Church.

Being the matriarch of a family of seven siblings, Betty's house was the central site for many family and holiday gatherings. She and her sisters enjoyed yard sales, auctions, frequent phone calls, and many meals together. Love and laughter were central to her life.

She is survived by her son, Marty Dunn of Dresden, grandchildren, Thomas (Desirae) Dunn of Dresden and Alex (Thomas) Sims of Dresden; great-grandchildren, Janelea and Jaxxten Dunn; sisters, Linda Sandefer of Dresden, Nancy (Jim) Carter of Loudon, TN, Pam (Keith) Kemp of Dresden, and Karen Riddick of Dresden; brother, Larry Danner of Colorado; nieces and nephews Amanda Melton, Regina Vickers, Holly Spaulding, Shannon Carter, Kelly Bailey, Adam Riddick, Eric Danner, Shelley Danner, Alex Danner, and Hannah Kemp; and step-son, Michael Smith.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roeby Smith; daughter, Michele Dunn; brother, Alfred Danner; and nephew, Steve Danner.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, January 10th, at Bowlin Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11am Wednesday.
