Bernice Inez Brown, born on Oct. 30, 1938, in Pueblo, died July 8, 2000, in Denver. She was a Federal Reserve supervisor and a teacher at Cole Middle School. Graduated from Pueblo Central High School in 1956 and received a B.S. degree in teaching from the University of Northern Colorado. Survived by children, Desmon P.H. Griffiths, Denver, and Anthony R.N. (Kacey) Griffiths, Aurora; stepdaughter, Samantha Johnson, Atlanta, Ga.; siblings, Ruth E. (Ray) Miles and Joe (Verlene) Smith, both of Pueblo; mother-in-law, Pamela Hayes, Hartford, Conn.; seven grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by husband, Harold Brown Jr.; mother, Naomi Ida Mary Smith; father, Andrew T. Smith. Service, 11 a.m. Thursday, Pipkin Chapel of Peace to Fort Logan National Cemetery.
