Miss Gloria J. “Dodie” Smith, age 55 of 548 Sugar Creek Rd., Buffalo, went home to be with the Lord, Monday March 21, 2016.
Miss Dodie was born in Union, July 4, 1960, a daughter of the late Hollis A. Smith and Belva Messer Smith. Dodie attended Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church where she received and gave more than her share of hugs, and sang as loud as she could for the Lord. She was a member of the Buffalo Senior Citizen’s Center where she had a job to do assisting her caring friends. She enjoyed making greeting cards, singing, coloring, shopping, playing Scrabble and just being the blessing that she was. Dodie was a huge fan of Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, Walker Texas Ranger, and the Andy Griffith Show. Miss Dodie loved everybody and everybody loved her. Heaven has reclaimed a special Angel.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. David Keith and Medi Home Hospice for their tender care given to Dodie during her time of need. Also a special thank you is extended to her family at the Buffalo Senior Citizen’s Center for the love and care shown to her throughout the years. She loved you all very much and you will never know what a blessing you were to her, as well as to her family.
Surviving are a sister who was her caregiver, Ruth Hancock of the home; two brothers, Ralph Smith and wife Barbara and Leon Smith and wife Dale all of Buffalo; three nieces, Debbie Crawford and husband Donnie and Cathy Poole and husband James all of Buffalo, and Susie Smith of Union; four nephews, Michael Smith and wife Donna, Chris Smith, and Kevin Smith and wife Anitra all of Buffalo, and Sammy Smith and wife Rhonda of Union. Dodie is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Sam Smith.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Guy Langston. Burial will be at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Phillip Smith, David Wilson, Chris Smith, Kevin Smith and Sammy Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buffalo Senior Citizen’s Center, 237 N. Gadberry St., Union, SC 29379.
The family will be at the home, 548 Sugar Creek Rd., Buffalo.
