Mary Ann Smith was born on the 12th day of November, 1874, at Portsmouth, Ohio, to Mary Ann and Clay Smith. Her girlhood and school days were spent there.

She was married March 28th, 1897, at the age of 16, to George Thomas Odle, of Portsmouth. A son, Henry Thomas Odle, now a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a daughter, Rosa Belle, were born in Portsmouth. This daughter has been her mother's faithful nurse and attendant throughout her last illness.

Mr. and Mrs. Odle and children moved to Muscatine, Iowa, in 1895, where George Emerson was born. This son has made a home for his aged parents for the past four years.

In 1901, they moved to Blueberry, Wisconsin, where they resided three years. John Hanson was born at Ashland near this city, in 1905. From there they moved to Dunham, Michigan, where three children were born, Delphian Earl, Venetia Lucile and Mary Alice.

In 1923, they went to Leavenworth, Washington, residing there six years. Coming to Klickitat in 1929, they made their home in Camp Seven.

Mrs. Odle passed away at 8:15 A.M. Wednesday, July 12th, 1933, at the age of 58 years and seven months, thus ending a varied life.

She was known as a loving, self-sacrificing wife and mother, devoting her feeble strength and care in loving efforts for the welfare of her family. She was a Christian woman, fully prepared for the death, that was so inevitable.

During her recent illness, she felt her life-work was accomplished, and expressed a desire to go "Home," and find her well-earned rest and peace with Her Maker.

All but two of her sons and daughters with their respective families were with her at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, four sons, three daughters and seven grandchildren. All but two sons live in Camp Seven, Klickitat.

The members of her family present at the funeral were: her husband, George Thomas Odle, and her children: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Westgate and son; George Emerson Odle; John Hanan Odle; Mr. and Mrs. Delphian Earl Odle and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steinbaugh and four children; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dechand and two children.

Funeral services were held at her home at Camp Seven, Klickitat, and were conducted by Rev. H.P. Andrews, of Goldendale. Interment followed in the Appleton Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Merle W. Chapman, funeral director.
