Georgia Ann Sherrill was born in 1848 in Alabama to David R. Sherrill and Julia Frances Perry Sherril. She was the fourth of their ten children. By 1860 the family had settled in Gonzales County, Texas.
On April 20, 1871, Georgia married Moses C. Bolt, a native of Arkansas, in Bastrop County, Texas. They had three daughters, Jemmina Frances; Minta A.; and Rachel R. Bolt. Moses died between 1880 and 1882.
Georgia married James Thomas Smith on April 12, 1882 in Bastrop County, Texas. He had 2 daughters, Annie and Nancy, by his first wife. Together he and Georgia had 3 children: Mary Elizabeth; Bessie Susan; and Henry Gordon (John)Smith.
According to her son, Henry Gordon (John) Smith, Georgia died of pneumonia on April 4, 1895 when he was just seven years old. He remembered walking behind the wagon that carried her body to the cemetery located in Fayette County, Texas. Today that cemetery is referred to as the Sawyer Cemetery and it sits on private property. She left behind six children and 2 step-children. Georgia was only 47 years old.
