Joy Jane Budihas went to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010. She was residing in Wasilla, Alaska.
Joy was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo., to Bernard and Jane Smith. She served in the U.S. Navy as a pharmacist mate from September 1944 to January 1946. Joy married John Joseph Budihas July 3, 1948, in Oakland, Calif. He preceded her in death in May 2007. They were married for 59 years.
Joy was a longtime resident of Portland, and was involved in many organizations, including the Columbia River Ripples, Navy League, American Legion, and Red Hat Society.
Joy is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Judy and Gregg Upton of Wasilla, and Jennifer and Mike Heath of Easton, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and her sister, Hope.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, in Calvin Presbyterian Church, 10455 S.W. Canterbury Lane, Tigard, OR 97224. Viewing will be prior to the service at 9:15 a.m. in the church chapel. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, OR 97086.
