NATCHEZ-Funeral services for Mavis Furr, 98, of Natchez, who died Monday, January 27, 2014 at Promise Rehabilitation Hospital, will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph Webber officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Furr was born February 18, 1915 in Franklin County, the daughter of Hardy Smith and Willie Ann Kennedy Smith. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe M. Furr, step-son, Laddie Joe Furr, two brothers, Charlie Smith and Clem B. Smith, and three sisters, Nellie Smith, Sally Walker, and Alice Bowlin.

Survivors include a step-son: James Steve Furr of Livermore, CA; three grandsons, one granddaughter, and a number of great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tom Smith, Robert Verucchi, Keith Smith, Wayne Holmes, Lynwood Easterling, and Bill Deer.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
