Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton, with the Rev. Jim Cruickshank officiating.
She was born May 24, 1927, in Fulton, the daughter of the late Philip M. and Margaret Robinett Smith. In Febuary 1947, she was united in marriage to Dudley Payne, who survives at their home.
Peggy was a graduate of Fulton High School, William Woods College and the University of Missouri, where she was an honor student inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She was active on committees for the welfare of the developmentally disabled children and adults on the local and state levels.
In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by one sister, Jean Y. Smith of Williamsburg; and three nieces, Ellen Koehler, Barbara Smith and Sharlyn Swenson.
Her parents, one son, one brother and one nephew preceded her in death.
