Ulva E. (Smith) MacKinnon of Holbrook, formerly of Abington, has gone to be with her Lord, May 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 82. Born in Mabou, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Ulva grew up and attended school there. Ulva later settled in Abington with her family where she lived for over 35 years. For the past eight years, she had lived in Holbrook. Ulva worked for over 28 years as a food service worker for the Abington Public School system. Ulva was a devout Christian and an active member of the Brookville Baptist Church in Holbrook. Ulva was the wife of the late Donald M. MacKinnon; loving mother of Donald M. MacKinnon Jr. and his wife Rita of South Easton, Robert A. MacKinnon and his wife Sarah of Abington and Sandra E. MacKinnon of Abington; devoted sister of Myrtle Smith of Cheshire, Conn., and the late Ernest Smith and Marion Timmons; dear grandmother of David MacKinnon, Robert MacKinnon, Megan Bartholdson and her husband Oliver, Miranda A. MacKinnon, Mary A. MacKinnon and the late Melissa MacKinnon; great-grandmother of Adeline Bartholdson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday, June 3, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. in the Brookville Baptist Church, 871 South Franklin St. (Rte. 37), Holbrook. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the Brookville Baptist Church. Burial will be held Monday, June 4, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Brookville Baptist Church, 871 South Franklin St., Holbrook, MA 02343. Ulva will be greatly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her. Arrangements under the direction of the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 South Franklin St., Holbrook.
