Catherine "Jinks" Virginia Smith Denton, of North Charleston, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of October 19, 2011.

Jinks was born on March 17, 1932 in Ritter, SC, one of eleven children born to William Cotesworth Smith and Bertha E. Drawdy Smith.

She was a manager in the restaurant business and she attended St. John Catholic Church.

Jinks will always be remembered by her family and friends as the spunky, outgoing, "never met a stranger" person that she was.

She is survived by her children: Ray Denton and wife, Sandy of Kingsland, GA, Tina Tanner and husband, Wesley of Bennettsville, SC, James Denton and wife, Julie of Summerville, SC and Debi Davis of Goose Creek, SC; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Jinks is also survived by sisters, Caroline Kampf, Jo Ann Smoak, both of Walterboro, SC, and Muffy Kise of Lousia, KY.

She is predeceased by her remaining siblings.

The relatives and friends of Jinks Denton are invited to attend her funeral service in J. Henry Stuhr, Northwoods Chapel, North Charleston, October 22, 2011, at 1:00 PM. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park.
