James Elmer Smeltzer was the son of Paul Ora Smeltzer and Orpha May McGrew Smeltzer who are buried also at Wiscotta. He was the oldest child in the family and the first to pass. He did a variety of things in his life including working at the Soybean Plant in Redfield and later for the same or subsidiary company in Florida as a supervisor. He could pretty much fix anything he needed to fix. In his later years he worked hard to develop a pond on his small farm south and east of Redfield not too far north of the Bear Creek Church. His sons and I use to ride horses on the property and just generally do "kid" stuff there. Rest in Peace Uncle James.
