Wanda was married to Robert Darrell Bartlett on May, 1949 in Dighton. He passed away on March 10, 1975.
Wanda was born in a "soddie" in Spring Creek Township in Lane County. She attended rural grade school and the Lane County High School. She left school at an early age to work as so many did at that time. After her marriage, Wanda raised her family while cooking at Velma's Cafe, The L&F Cafe and working as a meat wrapper at Smith's Locker. Wanda owned and operated Bartlett Liquor from 1970's to 2000. She was the President of the Kansas Liquor Board. Wanda enjoyed playing Bridge, ceramics, knitting, and crochetting. Wanda was a member of the United Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge #663 in Dighton.
She Loved her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings and there was always room at her table for friends.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers-William Ernest Smeltzer and Kenneth L. Smeltzer, one grandson-Michael Ray Taylor and one nephew-Randall Smeltzer.
Suvivors include-2 daughters-Carolyn Kay and husband Ernie Mudd of Dighton, KS; Julenne Marie and husband Jim Noll of Scott City, KS; 1 sister-Dorothy Thomas of Norton, KS; 5 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews and 2 neices.
Memorial Services were held Monday, September, 25, 2006 at the United Methodist Church, Dighton with Rev. David Randall officiating. Graveside Services were held at the Dighton Memorial Cemetery, Dighton, Kansas.
